Olof Hermelin (Sweden/US 1827-1913). A very good 19th century Swedish landscape done in a Barbizon transitional to Impressionist style which does also reflect some Hudson River School influence. Hermelin did, in fact, spend some time in the 1870's in both France and the US and is credited with producing the first Swedish impressionist work in the late 1870's.
This work is oil/canvas and is signed. It is presented in a good period gilt traditional frame. The frame appears to be contemporaneous to the painting. A very good work by a well-known Swedish artist. Likely circa 1870-1890.
