Wall consoles of this type and proportion were traditionally used in the 18th century as decorative pieces of furniture beneath a mirror or between two windows. Today, they are particularly popular for entrance halls or as dressing tables.

Solid, moulded oak frame, decoratively carved with Rococo elements. The frame is gently curved at the sides and features a scalloped lower edge, with a central rocaille motif that is also reflected in the flowing transition to the two cabriole legs, which flare slightly at the corners and end in a ‘pied à sabot’ base beneath an acanthus leaf finial. The marbled top slab, with its lively veining, is moulded and corresponds in shape to the frame.

In good condition with slight age-related signs of wear and visible repairs. Sturdy wooden base. The marble top has an old, repaired crack (see photos). The wooden surface has been stripped of its dark finish, carefully sanded and bleached, revealing the natural texture of the light unsealed oak.
