Richly decorated with Arabic calligraphy, stylized birds, floral arabesques, and shimmering polychrome ornament, the original ceramic exemplifies the artistic refinement of medieval pottery traditions. This plate was published in Henry Wallis's important study Lustre Vases, privately printed in London in 1899 in a strictly limited edition of only 200 copies. Wallis was among the pioneering British scholars and collectors who helped introduce Islamic decorative arts to European audiences at the close of the nineteenth century. Printed using the sophisticated chromolithographic techniques of the Victorian era, the image faithfully captures the iridescent qualities and intricate surface decoration of the original vessel. The work possesses both scholarly significance and exceptional decorative appeal, making it ideal for collectors of Islamic art, ceramics, and nineteenth-century design publications. Sold unframed. Framing images are for inspiration only. Creator: Henry Wallis (1811–1891), published posthumously, London. Date: 1899 Medium: Original chromolithograph on paper. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related foxing and light toning throughout. Minor edge wear and traces of removal from the original folio volume. The image itself remains bright and highly decorative. See less
