a refined vintage glass vase shaped like a handbag, an example of central european glassmaking in the second half of the 20th century. This is the artistic glass produced in central europe, a geographical and cultural region historically centered around germany, austria, the czech republic (the famous bohemia), slovakia, hungary, and poland. The main body is made of milky white opaline glass with a polished, polished surface. The mouth of the vase is embellished with a hot-applied orange glass paste cord, a feature reminiscent of traditional murano glasswork. The two tall, twisted, clear glass handles are attached to the frame with circular, hot-applied appliques. The piece retains the original adhesive label on the front with the goblet logo and the words "k i bleikristall," a german certification mark used to identify high-quality crystal and artistic glass crafted or distributed in germany. The german term "bleikristall" literally means lead crystal. This designation guarantees that the material is composed of a mixture of quartz sand, potassium salts, and red lead, giving the piece a particular brilliance, density, and a crystalline sound when struck. The mark, therefore, does not refer to a single factory, but to a large geographical area with a long glassmaking tradition. The circular logo features a large "k" on the left and the design of a glass with a crown (or crown cap) inside, surrounded by the words "bleikristall" at the bottom. This factory is known for producing a wide range of decorative and tableware items, including crystal bells, glasses, vases, and bowls, often featuring hand-carved or engraved decorations. Generally, items with this mark are considered quality vintage pieces, often dating from the 1970s to the early 1990s. An iconic piece of furniture, ideal for collectors of vintage glass.
