A Louis-Philippe period gondola armchair, traditionally made in France (circa 1850).
The frame is solid walnut with a magnificent original patina, preserving its antique charm.
The enveloping backrest is curved in a semicircle. The armrests flow seamlessly into the frame with superb scrollwork.
Legs: The front legs are crafted from turned wood (baluster motif); the rear legs are saber-shaped for excellent stability.
The seat is very comfortable and firm (dense padding on springs), upholstered in azure blue jacquard fabric with small gold-yellow motifs, highlighted by elegant matching piping.
The fabric is very clean and stain-free. The wood has a beautiful natural patina with slight signs of wear and age that add to its charm. The chair has been cleaned and treated.
Ideal as a distinctive office chair or for creating a cozy reading nook in a bedroom or living room. Chair from a former manor house in Béziers (34), in the south of France.
