A remarkably complete 1847 Rogers Bros. “Vintage” silverplate flatware master set in the iconic grape and vine pattern introduced in 1904.
This extensive collection includes both place settings and an exceptional assortment of specialty serving pieces accumulated over many decades. Unlike most surviving Vintage sets, which consist primarily of basic place settings, this collection retains numerous hard-to-find serving utensils including berry spoons, an ice cream slicer, bread knife, sandwich server, cake servers, cold meat forks, gravy ladle, olive spoon, sugar tongs, and additional specialty pieces.
This 148-piece master set was acquired as a complete service to furnish a Virginia farmhouse that was restored and outfitted as a bed and breakfast. Carefully preserved together, it remains an unusually complete collection of the iconic 1847 Rogers Bros. “Vintage” grape pattern, including an exceptional assortment of specialty serving pieces rarely found together today.
The pieces have been gently cleaned to reduce heavy tarnish while preserving the soft antique patina that many collectors appreciate. They display beautifully and are ready for use or display.

The silverplate retains a bright presentation and has been lightly cleaned to reduce heavy tarnish while preserving its antique character. As expected for a service of this age, individual pieces exhibit varying degrees of surface scratches, utensil marks, and age-related wear. Several tea spoons show areas of silverplate wear with the base metal visible, primarily on the back of the bowl. The knife blades display typical age-related discoloration, pitting, and corrosion, with the large bread knife exhibiting the most significant oxidation. The hollow-handle dinner knives include both matching Vintage-pattern examples and earlier flat-handle replacements. Despite these signs of age and use, the set remains remarkably complete, displays beautifully, and is well suited for collecting, entertaining, or decorative use.
