Watercolor of a dock worker by Peter Anthony Delfino (Verdi) (1915 - 1987) circa 1950s. Signed lower right, original label from the original backing is included.
A Brooklyn native, Delfino earned a scholarship to the National Academy of Design but his studies were interrupted by the draft in World War II. After the war, he attended Pratt Institute and worked in the art department at Gimble's Department Store. He then spent five years as an illustrator for Burdine's in Miami before going back to Gimble's in NYC where he was art director.
He moved back in Florida, where he held term as president of the Miami Art League and was a member of the Miami Watercolor Society. He died in Titusville in 1987.
