Five soft-paste porcelain plates, 18th century,
from the Count of Artois's factory (Limoges),
circa 1720-1750
, France.
The Count of Artois, brother of Louis XVI and the future Charles X, created this factory to compete with his brother's Sèvres manufactory.
This story illustrates the internal power struggles within the French royal family.
The soft-paste porcelain plates are decorated with
painted flowers.
The reverse is signed by the factory and engraved with the initials.
The edges are scalloped with gilt friezes.
In good condition (see photos),
with a few very small chips.
Dimensions: 24 cm in diameter.
