A pair of Louis XVI period gilt bronze cassolette candlesticks.
The candlesticks rest on four ball-shaped feet. The base is decorated with cartouches and a laurel wreath surmounted by a fluted and chased stem.
The socket is in the shape of an urn or "cassolette," decorated on either side with knots imitating silk.
The upper surfaces are adorned with acanthus leaves.
The top of the candlestick is removable.
French work, 18th century
, circa 1780.
Very good overall condition.
