17th-century brass offering dish with "Chinese" decoration.
The brass is finely engraved with scrolling foliage and scenes of Chinese figures in a garden, picking dates in front of a pagoda.
Made in the Netherlands or Italy around 1680.
The brass is gilded and matted with agate.
Offering dishes were originally used to receive bread offerings from the faithful during Christian religious ceremonies.
