Romanesque limestone sculpture, 9th century.
One side depicts the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian, his hands bound behind his back, ready to receive the arrows that will pierce him.
The other side shows the Virgin Mary in prayer, her hands clasped.
French work, Burgundy, 9th-10th century.
The stone shows some erosion.
It rests on a carved wooden base.
Height: 33 cm - Length: 19 cm - Width: 15 cm.
From a castle in Burgundy.
