"Eyed" Idol. Tell Brak, Uruk Period, 4th millennium BC,
Middle East
. The sculpture is carved with a woman's body in bas-relief, her hands clasped over her pubis.
It is surmounted by two pierced eyes.
Calcite sculpture.
Euphrates Valley, Gawra Period in northern Mesopotamia, corresponding to the Uruk Period. 4th millennium BC.
From a temple at the Tell Brak site.
