The sculpture is in the Art Nouveau traditions of late 19th century and the young boy is in a perch-sitting position meant to hang off the edge of an elevated surface. He wears a cap and a striped jacket and has a particularly expressive face. This original Goldscheider Model 1225 statue was deliberately sculpted without lower legs or feet. There is an incised signature "Cherc" signature on the figure indicates that Hans Scherpe was involved in the design. The number 1225 corresponds to the registry number assigned by Goldscheider for this exact "Boy Fishing" model indicates that a renowned house artist named Haniroff sculpted this model. See less
