Richly ornamented … Read more A remarkable pair of Victorian Gothic Revival gilt and patinated bronze chimney ornaments, produced in England, circa 1840. Richly ornamented with Gothic tracery, quatrefoils, pinnacles, and architectural detailing, these rare decorative objects exemplify the craftsmanship associated with the Gothic Revival movement.

Constructed according to the B. Days of Birmingham patent, these ingenious ornaments were designed to be multifunctional. The removable brass inserts allowed them to serve as supports for fire screens, flower holders, fragrance pots, clock cases, candle shades, and other decorative household objects.

Examples of this design are held in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, underscoring their historical importance and rarity.
