Vintage Large Sculptural Art Pottery Grape Motif Amphora Style Vase - Artist Signed
Presenting a striking, late 20th century, heavy studio art pottery statement vessel featuring an incredibly tactile, organic design. This substantial vase showcases an all-over sandy cream crackle-slip glaze finish. The belly of the urn is adorned with a highly dramatic, hand-modeled 3D high-relief appliqué depicting cascading grape clusters, vines, and leaves. The grapes feature deep indigo, purple, and dusty rose matte-glazed undertones.Built with remarkably thick walls, the unglazed interior reveals a smooth raw ceramic finish, indicating it was intended as a standalone sculptural art vessel. The base features an incised freehand artist signature ("Bill ----." unable to make out last name) along with original kiln stilt scars from firing. A gorgeous addition to rustic, Mediterranean, Tuscan, or modern farmhouse interiors. Has applied felt pads to protect furniture.
Meaures 12" high, 11" wide, and weighs approx. 9 lbs.
