Dating back to the early 1930s Great Depression era, this substantial statement piece showcases a rich, deep translucent amethyst purple colorway. Measuring an impressive 14.5 inches in diameter, it makes a striking visual anchor for a dining room table, entryway console, or buffet display. Design & CraftsmanshipThis centerpiece is an exceptional example of American "Elegant Glass" craft, bridging late Art Nouveau romance with sharp Art Deco geometries: The Etching: The wide, dramatically flared rim features alternating panels of high-polish glass and highly detailed, satin-finished acid-etched floral motifs. The etchings depict stylized multi-petal flowers and climbing leaves woven over a geometric trellis/lattice backdrop. The Base: Molded from thick, heavy glass, the substantial footed pedestal ring provides excellent stability for the wide rim. In true "Black Amethyst" style, the thick base appears dark and nearly black in ambient room lighting, but glows with a rich, brilliant violet hue when caught by natural light. See less

The very bottom rim of the footed pedestal shows light, minor white scuffs and surface scratches. This is completely standard "shelf wear" from moving across dining surfaces over the decades and serves as an excellent indicator of its true 1930s vintage age. less
