Antique c.1845 French Architectural Steel Engraving "Colonne de la Place Vendôme"

Up for sale is a beautiful antique mid-19th-century French architectural steel engraving titled Colonne de la Place Vendôme
This rare topographical piece offers a crisp, highly detailed perspective of the famous Napoleonic victory column and the surrounding classical architecture of the historic Parisian square.
This print features two highly collectible historical attributes:
1. "Chamouin direx": Directed and produced by master French engraver Jean-Baptiste-Marie Chamouin (b. 1768).
2. "Prise au Daguerreotype": This confirms the engraving was part of Chamouin's celebrated series Collection de Vues de Paris Prises au Daguerreotype. The architectural lines were etched directly from an early 1840s daguerreotype photograph rather than a hand sketch. Because early long camera exposures couldn't capture movement, the pedestrian crowds, horse riders, and carriages were beautifully added by hand onto the printing plate.
This piece features excellent provenance, originating from the private art collection of David J. Bikoff, M.D., P.A., New Jersey, bearing the original collection inventory sticker on the reverse (Inventory PA 57, Ref: TC-14).
Professional custom framing under glass. Features a distressed, vintage black wood frame with a elegant gold/gilt inner lip. Finished with a clean cream matboard, contrasting dark inner accent mat, and a fully wired backing.
Excellent used antique condition. Excellent antique condition. The print is bright with minimal, age-appropriate toning confined mostly to the margins. The frame shows minor, character-rich vintage wear to the finish. Structural framing, matting, and glass are completely sound and ready to hang.
