This sculpture is an original work by contemporary artist and craftsperson Sandra Berry Hover.
This piece depicts a fantasy chariot or wheeled boat carrying a procession of figures, including a distinct horse profile on the far right and stylized figures riding along the deck. Figures are Kandinsky-like abstract forms with bold unblended colors. Metal is carved and hand painted. Signed by Berry Hover.
Sandra Berry Hover is known for a tactile, intuitive process spanning across clay modeling, wood-fired ceramics, intricate woodcarving and metal work. Her painted wood sculptures are highly collectible, often exploring expressive, dreamlike narratives and emotional depth.
She has shown at the American Craft at the Armory, Park Ave., NYC, Benefit Auction, American Craft Museum, NYC, Smithsonian Craft Show, Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC and many more prestigious institutions.
