This mid-century table from Italy, designed with Neoclassical influences, has a demi-lune shaped form, topped with its original marble over a curved apron with frieze decorated with fluting, bead molding, and delicate carved rosettes. The table stands on four slender, tapered legs adorned with carved foliate motifs and fluted detailing, terminating in gilt accents at the balled feet. The warm patinated finish enhances the depth of the carving and lends the piece a sophisticated, time-worn character which plays nicely with the original black marble top with striking veining. Note that the marble top is glued on (therefore does not remove from the base). This mid 20th century Italian console, measuring 34.5 inches in width, has a compact scale making it particularly versatile for use in an entryway, powder room, hallway, or as an accent piece in a living space.
