A nice French 1925-1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by Hubert Petitot holding a bowl in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. The bronzier Alexandre Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Hubert took over in 1917. Together with Hettier & Vincent they became the largest producer of French art deco lighting in the 30s. The chandelier on offer has a bowl with a diameter of 13,78 inches. This model was created and produced by Verdun the glass manufactory of Maurice Model. It exists in three versions. Unsigned and signed Verdun and the ones Petitot ordered for his fixtures were sometimes given the Petitot france mark on the rim. The one on this pendant is a signed one. But the signature 'petitot france' is very vague. Only the word France is clear. The canopy has the usual AP foundry mark for Alexandre Petitot. The canopy is represented in the 1931 Petitot product catalog. The total height of the chandelier is 43cm (17 inches).

The pendant is in very good condition. As you can see on the pictures the shade has a curved molding hairline in the center. Lots of old bowls in thick pressed glass have such molding irregularities. I have re-nickeled the fixture. And it is rewired and holds an American standard socket.
