A fascinating vintage mask from Mexico. Artist and exact age not known, but suspected to be 1960s vintage.
Intriguing handmade, studio pottery life/death carnival mask. Assumed to be low or pit fired earthenware, based on the grey coloration. Nicely made with essential details and minimal accent colors, accentuated by the burnished, semi-gloss human side versus the matte skull side. Beautiful and macabre!
Measures 9.25"x 6.75"x 3.5". Production variations and some minor evidence of handling, use and storage wear as seen in the photos. No notable damage. Unmarked, undated.
