A large wood sign with hand painted lettering in a gorgeous bright red. It advertises carpentry by Frank J. Thompson, who according to the sign was a "city and gild finalist". Bravo Mr. Thompson! He also tells us where his shop is located, and that he gives estimates.It's a straightforward honest sign who's value lies not only in its age and originality but, more importantly, in the fonts' graphics. That's the joy we get from it in addition to the story we get about a carpenter named Frank.

We are now done with the one side. And if you turn it around you'll find a little unexpected and welcoming surprise. On the verso someone a little later painted that side for a whole different purpose: to advertise "For Sale" and to "Apply Within". What we equally love about this side is not only the cream and burgundy color combination but, again, and more importantly, the font style. An art deco period font if we're not mistaken.
