The composition emphasizes the refined balance between geometry and vegetal ornament typical of the Kashan workshops of the Seljuk and Ilkhanid periods. Rich golden, copper, and olive tones have been beautifully rendered through the sophisticated chromolithographic processes of the late Victorian era, faithfully preserving the luminous qualities of the original ceramic object. This print was published in Henry Wallis's important folio Lustre Vases (London, 1899), a work printed exclusively for private circulation in a strictly limited edition of only 200 copies. Today, individual plates from this publication are exceptionally scarce and highly desirable among collectors of Islamic art, decorative arts, and rare nineteenth-century colour-plate books. This is an original 1899 print and not a modern reproduction. Sold unframed. Images showing the print in a frame or interior setting are provided for visual impression only. Frame proportions, matting, and room presentations are not always to scale. Creator: Henry Wallis (1811–1891), published posthumously. Publication: Lustre Vases, London, 1899. Date: 1899 Medium: Original chromolithograph on paper. Condition: Good antique condition with light age-related toning, scattered foxing, and minor wear along the sheet edges consistent with removal from the original folio volume. The colours remain warm, attractive, and remarkably decorative. Provenance: from Lustre Vases, privately printed in London in 1899 in an edition limited to only 200 copies. See less
