Finished in the iconic turquoise-green glaze with sterling silver overlay decoration, this early example comes from Kåge's celebrated Argenta series and embodies the refined elegance of Swedish Art Deco ceramics. The shallow circular bowl is raised on a distinctive pedestal foot with black-edged cut-out detailing, lending the piece a strong architectural character. The satin turquoise glaze displays the softly mottled surface for which the Argenta range is renowned, while two concentric silver-overlay borders decorate the interior. Each band is engraved with a restrained scrolling motif punctuated by small geometric cross marks, providing subtle contrast against the vivid green ground. Designed during the formative years of the Argenta collection, this bowl represents one of Wilhelm Kåge's most enduring decorative arts achievements. Introduced in the 1930s, the Argenta line combined rich monochrome glazes with hand-applied sterling silver decoration, establishing Gustavsberg as one of Sweden's leading ceramic manufacturers of the period.
