Pair of French Barbotine Oyster Serving Plates, Circa 1900
Celebrate the artistry of French barbotine with this charming pair of antique oyster serving plates, dating to the turn of the 20th century. Beautifully molded with six scallop shell wells surrounding a central sauce reservoir, each plate features rich green, cream, and chestnut glazes with wonderful depth and texture.
Originally designed for serving oysters on the half shell, these sculptural plates are equally beautiful displayed on a plate wall, in a cabinet, or styled on open shelving. Their organic forms and vibrant glazes embody the whimsical character that has made French barbotine a favorite among collectors and designers for over a century.'
A wonderful addition to any collection of French majolica, antique serving ware, or coastal-inspired décor.
