A 1925-1930 French art deco pendant light in solid brass holding a nice Delatte bowl in mottled orange and blue coloured glass. This type of shade was crafted in handblown double layered glass with pigment inclusions.
The bowl spreads a nice warm toned light when lit. The pendant is in excellent condition. I have cleaned the authentic fixture. The shade is signed A. Delatte Nancy done in ink typical for Delatte. It has a diameter of 36 cm (14,2 inches). The chandelier has a total height of 44,6 cm (17,6 inches). It is rewired and holds an American standard socket.

André Delatte (1887-1953) was the banker of Muller frères. He became enthusiastic about glassware in the Muller plant and picked up a study in chemistry. After which he opened in 1921 his own glass manufactory Verreries de l'Est in Jarville near the city of Nancy producing mainly vases and lamp shades in coloured mottled glass. In 1926 he moved to a larger factory in Nancy. Due to the crisis and the tough competition with Daum the company closed in 1933. Then Delatte together with the industrialist Georges Despordes opened a new glass workshop in the village Rive-de-Gier near Lyon. The new company was named "Art et Verrerie". Pieces produced at this plant were signed "Arvers". It was not a commercial success. Times had changed and war was in the air. The company soon went bankrupt. From 1935 till 1937 Delatte worked at the artistic department of the SEVBA glass factories. After the second world war Delatte moved to the south of France and went to work in insurances. See less
