Ranc frères
A French art deco pendant light by Charles Ranc made circa 1930-1935. The mount in nickel plated solid brass or bronze holds an opalescent bowl in thick milky blue molded-pressed semi crystal. It shows beautiful tones of blue or warm amber depending whether light shines on or through it. It is signed Ranc frères France on the rim. Charles Ranc was a designer and producer of bronze lighting fixtures. He started his company in 1909 he became very successful 1925 onwards. In 1928 his two brothers Auguste and Eugène and his sister Madeleine joined the company and it was renamed Ranc frères. A handful of models in opalescent glass made for Ranc by the EZAN glass manufactory of Etablissement Jean Gauthier have this Ranc freres signature. The deco of the bowl makes a great match with the canopy. The chandelier is in excellent condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mount. And it comes rewired with an American standard socket. The pendant has a total height of 53,5 cm (21,06") and it is 34,8 cm (13,7") wide.
