Hand-carved from solid pine, this impressive pair of monumental table lamps draws inspiration from the robust architectural vocabulary of Renaissance and Baroque Tuscany. Their boldly sculpted baluster-form columns, stepped plinth bases, and carved bracket feet recall the proportions of seventeenth-century Italian altar furnishings, refectory tables, and ecclesiastical columns that emphasized mass, permanence, and the natural beauty of timber.

Each lamp has been carved from substantial sections of pine, allowing the dramatic grain, knots, and age-related checking to remain visible. Rather than disguising the wood's character, the maker celebrated its rustic authenticity, producing sculptural forms that bridge traditional Tuscan craftsmanship with the twentieth-century revival of Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial interiors. The stepped bases, scalloped aprons, and boldly carved feet reinforce their architectural presence, while the richly patinated pine has developed a warm honey-colored surface that highlights decades of natural aging.

The restrained silhouette allows these lamps to work equally well in Tuscan, Spanish Revival, French Provincial, mountain lodge, or contemporary organic interiors. Their sculptural quality is enhanced by the generous scale, giving each lamp the appearance of a freestanding architectural fragment rather than a conventional lighting fixture.

Each lamp has been professionally rewired with new period-appropriate brown cloth-covered cords and fitted with quality brass sockets, making them ready for immediate use while preserving their rustic character. The verdigris-painted metal candle cups provide an attractive transition.

Dimensions: Each measures 12 inches square at the base, 29 inches high to the top of the carved column, and 39 inches high to the top of the socket. Each weighs approximately 15 pounds, reflecting their solid wood construction.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with desirable age-related wear, natural shrinkage cracks, knots, old insect activity consistent with reclaimed pine, and a rich, naturally aged patina. Professionally rewired and ready for installation. See less
