Vibrant and whimsical original color serigraph (silkscreen) on paper titled "Fly Over Jerusalem" by celebrated Polish-Israeli artist Zamy Steynovitz (1951–2000). This specific piece is hand-numbered 254 from a limited edition of 350.
This captivating work beautifully showcases Steynovitz's signature style, which deeply reflects his Eastern European Jewish heritage through a lens of dreamlike fantasy reminiscent of Marc Chagall. The composition features a traditional Jewish man carrying a sacred Torah scroll floating blissfully above the stylized skyline and golden domes of Jerusalem. The left side is anchored by a massive, rich bouquet of multi-colored flowers, a favorite thematic motif of the artist. [1, 2]
Steynovitz's palette became famously richer and more intensely saturated after a transformative mid-1980s trip to South America, a quality beautifully exemplified by the glowing yellow skies, deep blues, and brilliant red accents of this piece. Known globally for his message of world peace, Steynovitz was honored by the Nobel Institute for Peace and his works have been presented to world leaders, including President Jimmy Carter and Pope John Paul II.
The print is elegantly housed in an ornate, molded metallic gold-toned frame with an inner cream mat border. It is ready to hang and adds an enchanting, eclectic layer of Judaica, Modernism, or Mid-Century style to any fine art collection
