Rather than erasing its age, this piece was thoughtfully restored to preserve the character that makes antique furniture so special. The light natural finish highlights the beautiful wood grain while allowing the graceful curves and proportions to remain the focal point.
Crafted from solid wood with quality dovetail drawer construction, this vanity dresser features two upper drawers and two larger lower drawers, offering practical storage in a compact footprint that's equally at home in a bedroom, dressing area, guest room, or entryway.
The original hardware has been thoughtfully updated with vintage-inspired antique brass hardware selected to complement the dresser's design while remaining true to its character. The original locks remain intact and fully functional, accompanied by a fitted replacement key that operates them smoothly.
Each drawer has been carefully cleaned and lined with elegant floral paper, creating an interior that feels every bit as refined as the exterior.
One of my favorite discoveries during the restoration was hidden inside one of the drawers—a small hand-drawn heart with initials and what appears to be the date 1948. Rather than sanding away this quiet reminder of the dresser's history, it was intentionally preserved. Nearly eighty years later, it remains a small glimpse into the life of someone who once cherished this piece, and now it gets to become part of someone else's story.
The original mirror remains with the dresser and displays age-appropriate silvering loss and surface scratches acquired over decades of use. These characteristics were intentionally preserved as part of the piece's authentic history. The mirror remains fully functional and may be replaced in the future if desired, though I felt the original deserved to remain with the piece.
