An original signed etching by American artist George Gale (1893–1951) titled “Haul Line,” depicting two fishermen battling heavy surf in a small dory. The dramatic composition captures the energy and danger of commercial fishing with Gale’s expressive line work and keen eye for maritime subjects.
The print is signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right, titled in pencil at the lower left, and numbered 9 beneath the image. The original plate mark is clearly visible, confirming the intaglio printing process.
Professionally matted and presented in a warm gilt wood frame that complements the artwork beautifully. The reverse retains a Providence Picture Frame & Dryden Gallery label, adding to its presentation history.
George Gale’s maritime etchings are sought after by collectors of New England and American coastal art. This is an excellent display piece for a traditional, coastal, or nautical interior.
