This is a stunning, collector-grade set of six (6) vintage water goblets in the iconic "Astrid" pattern, designed by legendary glass artist Simon Gate in the 1920s for the Sandvik branch of Orrefors (Sweden).
This particular set features the highly desirable, warm smoke brown/tawny cinnamon coloration. Standing at an impressive 9 inches tall, these are the largest and most elegant water/wine goblets produced in the suite, showcasing Gate’s signature Art Deco biomorphic design with fine, undulating ribbed stems and delicate flared bowls.
Condition Details:
This set is in absolute pristine, never-used vintage condition. They look exactly as they did when they left the Swedish glassworks.
NO chips, cracks, or flea bites along the delicate rims or bases.
NO dishwasher cloudiness, fogging, or "sick glass" etching.
The crystal-clear transparency and rich amber-gray tint are perfectly preserved.
Whether you are expanding a mid-century Scandinavian glass collection or looking for a show-stopping, flawless table service set, these rare 9-inch stems are an exceptional find.
My mother bought these on her Venetian honeymoon in 1955. She would not allow anyone use them.
