Muller frères
A French art deco pendant light by Hettier & Vincent in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding a large bowl in colored double layered blown glass made by Muller freres. Muller made bowls in the regular 35 cm diameter as well as larger ones of around 40 cm wide. These colored bowls are beautiful but you must realize that a lot fewer light shines through compared to clear shades in pressed glass. So it is mainly an uplight chandelier.
Hettier & Vincent (founded by Louis Hettier and Calixte Vincent in February 1924) was a large well known French lighting company producing high quality items. Wholesaler and retailer with its showroom at the prestigious and beautiful Place de Vosges in Paris. This pendant can be dated around 1925-1930. It is represented on page 73 of the first product catalog HetV issued. Note the clever way the chains are made allowing the electrical wire to run as it were inside the construction of the chain. Hettier et Vincent patented these chains in 1926.
The pendant is in excellent condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mount. The lamp has a total height of 50,7 cm (20 inches) and the Muller bowl is 40,5 cm (16 inches) in diameter. The lamp is rewired and holds three American candelabra base sockets.
