This one‑of‑a‑kind mixed‑media pendant light stands 23 inches tall (excluding the chain) with a sculptural shade measuring approximately 23 × 22 inches. It combines mid‑century Hollóháza porcelain with expressive Pacific Northwest studio art glass, creating a striking, collectible statement piece.
The upper porcelain element is a cylindrical Hollóháza form designed by Hungarian artist Endre Szász, showcasing his signature surreal black‑and‑white Art Nouveau illustration. The motif features a romanticized female profile wearing an ornate headdress that dissolves into flowing, hair‑like lines surrounded by flowers and butterflies. The porcelain is finished with 21k gold banding, adding refinement and emphasizing its mid‑century craftsmanship.
Below, the large hand‑blown glass shade expands into an asymmetric ruffled fazzoletto form with clean, fluid lines. Its base color is black—harmonizing with the porcelain—and it is decorated with smoky white‑gray marbling and an iridescent oil‑slick pattern that flashes greens, purples, blues, and bronze. The folds ripple organically, giving the piece movement and sculptural presence.
Beneath the main shade sits a smaller handkerchief‑style glass form created by Pacific Northwest studio artists Scott & Laura Curry. Their signature freeform abstract style appears in the jewel‑tone blends, swirling patterns, gold accents, and metallic threading—details that echo and complement the iridescent oil‑slick coloration of the upper shade.
Together, the Hollóháza porcelain and the two layers of hand‑blown studio glass create a dramatic, unified pendant light with exceptional artistry, rare materials, and a truly unique silhouett
