Convex mirrors, also known as 'bull's-eye' mirrors, gained popularity in the 18th century, particularly in Europe. They were often used in grand homes and salons, serving both decorative and functional purposes, as their curved surface could reflect a wider area. The ornate frames, often gilded or carved, were designed to complement the elaborate interiors of the time.

This particular mirror's design, with its black and gold finish and decorative metal appliques, suggests a style that might have been popular during the late Victorian or Edwardian eras, or possibly a later reproduction inspired by these periods. The combination of materials and decorative elements points to a piece intended to be a statement item in a home, reflecting the tastes and craftsmanship of its era. See less
