Description:
Offered is an authentic antique Ethiopian Agelgil basket, traditionally handcrafted from woven rattan and fully covered in hand-stitched leather. Agelgil baskets have long been used in Ethiopia for serving and storing injera and other foods, and are admired today for their distinctive craftsmanship, rich patina, and cultural significance.
This example features a domed lid with leather tie straps and beautifully aged leather over a woven rattan framework. The warm, naturally developed patina and visible hand-stitching reflect years of careful use and traditional artisan construction, making it an excellent piece for collectors of African ethnographic art or as a unique decorative accent.
