A heavy and deeply case antique cast iron bookend of a walking elephant. It has been given a rich copper patina. The casting is deep and artistic. The elephant had a green felt base, which is mainly gone.
There is a cast mark of a circle with a couple of dots in in on the back near the base. This could be a hallmark; however, I don’t recognize it.
MEASUREMENTS
4 ½ in wide x 2 in deep x 3 ¾ in tall Weighs 2 lb 1.0 oz.
CONDITION
There are no breaks, chips, cracks or dents. There is wear to the copper patina from age and use. The green felt on the base is very worn.
A striking, artfully cast addition to any bookshelf or elephant collection.
