The shade is hand-blown white murano glass, finished with 24-karat gold leaf that catches the light along its ribbed, tulip-shaped body. The stem and circular base are executed in polished brass, giving the piece a warm, reflective surface that complements the glass above. A floor-mounted dimmer switch is built into the cord, allowing the light intensity to be adjusted directly from the base. Production of this model was extremely limited, and barovier & toso discontinued it in 2008, making surviving examples uncommon on the market today. The tall, slender silhouette and soft glow suit a living room corner, an entry hall, or a bedroom, where its height and light output work well as an accent rather than a primary source of illumination. As part of the xii apostoli series, it reflects barovier & toso's continued use of traditional murano glassblowing techniques within a more contemporary format, pairing historic material craft with a design produced only in the early 2000s.
