Fantastic vintage Brutalist Heirloom coffee table by Weiman composed of a carved and blackened cylindrical pedestal base and a round ivory marble top, made in Italy. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, the wood base was beyond refinishing so we chose to blacken the wood with a paint finish that also exposes some of the wood. Small chips in marble were repaired. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century.
Ebony and Ivory… Together in perfect harmony!!!! I bet Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder would agree!!! And… I bet that song gets stuck in your head!! LOL!!! This is an INCREDIBLE Heirloom line or collection coffee or cocktail table by Weiman Furniture composed of a blackened cylindrical or drum shaped pedestal base featuring intricately carved sculptural relief details capped with a GORGEOUS round Italian ivory marble top. Under the marble is a round, rich wood surface accented by a decorative, blackened textured edge or border detail. What we refer to as the “blackened” finish is an absolutely beautiful technique used that created a unique look to the table as you can still see “peeks” of the wood within the sculptural loop relief designs… WOW!!! Zoom in on those photos!!! It bears a bold Brutalist aesthetic with Tribal elements that almost hypnotize your eyes. It is going to be FABULOUS in your living or family room between a pair of chairs or facing your sofa. It could be utilized as a wonderful accent, side, or end table. It’s also the perfect spot to set a cup of coffee or a cocktail, hold a stack of books, or host an awesome sculpture or wonderful table lamp in any room. Versatility, incredible style, and an iconic Weiman reputation to boot!!
Weiman Furniture was founded in 1935 in Rockford, Illinois as a high-end wood and upholstered furniture company. In 1941, they expanded into a large factory and began giving free wood polish with furniture purchases, which later became their main cleaning product business. Their focus was high quality craftsmanship, innovative designs, and customer satisfaction. They left an impactful mark in the history of American furniture manufacturing as a leader in mid-century modern designs. In 1979 Weiman was acquired as a subsidiary of Bassett Furniture Industries where their success continued for many years. In 2003 Bassett announced that the Weiman division would acquire assets of Preview Furniture, Inc which created Weiman Preview. In 2006, Interlude Home Inc purchased Weiman Preview and transformed it into an upscale custom furniture brand. While the physical furniture company has ceased, Weiman furniture is highly sought after by collectors and vintage furniture enthusiasts. The Weiman Wood Care brand continues to thrive today as a dominate household cleaning product provider.
Don’t let this fantastic vintage Heirloom coffee table by Weiman Furniture pass you by! It’s as simple as black and white!!!! (and peeks of brown!) LOL… You know you love it… So, make it YOURS!!!
