Set of 4 Antique Italian Renaissance Revival Hand Carved Dining Chairs

Renaissance Revival (often called "Flemish" or "Continental") carved side chairs, with heavy walnut or mahogany construction, pierced and scrolling crest with a coronet-like finial, grotesque "Green Man"/Bacchus masks on the front stretcher, figural caryatid-carved front legs, spiral finials, and rosette/floral banding are all hallmarks of this revival style. This look was extremely popular from roughly 1870–1920, produced heavily in Italy (especially around Florence/Venice). Based on the carving style, tufted backs, and overall proportions, these date as late 19th to early 20th century

Front supports are carved as winged female figures (sphinx/harpy-type caryatids) — human head and torso, feathered wings, and terminating in carved claw/paw feet. That's a step up in complexity from a generic mask-and-scroll leg, and it's a detail that shows up specifically in higher-end Italian Renaissance Revival production, often described in dealer listings as "winged sphinx" or "griffin" supports. Combined with the crowned/pierced crest, Green Man mask on the front stretcher, and rosette banding from the first photo, this is a well-carved, fairly ambitious set.

Condition Report
In good, structurally sound, and sturdy condition with no smells. There are some imperfections on a couple seats and 1 back, and a small piece of scroll is missing from the upper top of 1 chair, as shown in the last 3 photos and video.
