SONOVER
A French art deco pendant light in nickel plated solid brass or bronze made circa 1930. It holds a Sonover signed bowl in frosted molded-pressed glass. In a nice geometrical pattern. Note the beautiful match with the bronze canopy. Sonover is short for "Société Normande de Verrerie". A glass factory in Normandy during the interbellum. Alongside its industrial production it had a small line of pressed glass lamp shades in art deco style.
The bowl has a diameter of 35 cm (13,78 inches). The chandelier has a height of 43,5 cm (17,13"). It is in very good condition. Some air bubbles inside the glass. Due to the production process of these French art deco bowls in thick glass we can often see lines inside the glass itself. They are no cracks. One can be seen near the center of the bowl. See the last picture. I replated and patinated the mount and rewired the fixture with an American standard size socket.
