This gorgeous macaw oil painting is done in the traditional impasto technique, which refers to a technique where paint is applied so thickly to a surface—usually canvas or wood—that the stroke mark or palette knife ridge stays clearly visible. When dry, impasto gives the painting a three-dimensional, sculptural texture that stands out from the surface.

The painting depicts a tranquil Red Scarlet Macaw perched upon a tree branch with palm leaves, sky and grass. Signed towards the bottom left. Painted on canvas board as seen on the last photo.
