The … Read more A charming Venetian-style painted writing table or desk made in the country Italian, or French Louis XV provincial taste. The distinctive table features hand-painted botanical laurel leaf swag embellishments in soft sage green tones on the top, apron, and legs. The decoration includes foliate garlands, a central wreath, and borders of trailing vines and laurel leaves on a lightly distressed cream ground. The top is crafted with a carved serpentine edge, and sits on an apron housing a single frieze drawer. The top is fitted with pullout writing slides on each side of the table. The table is supported by gracefully curved cabriole legs ending in shaped feet. Crafted in a Venetian style with neoclassical decoration, the table is well-suited for use as a writing desk, library table, entry table, console, or as a vanity. A "Made in Italy" stamp is present on the underside of the table. The table has ample leg room measuring 24.5" from the floor to the apron in the center. The construction is sturdy with solid joinery and a beautifully distressed patina on the painted finish.
