This reproduction of Chinese Sancai glazed pottery figure is a traditional style of ceramic art that flourished during the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD). The name Sancai translates literally to "three colors", referring to the traditional lead-based glaze palette seen here: amber/brown, green, and a creamy off-white.
It used "Drip Glaze Effect", The distinct streaks and runs down the figure's robes are characteristic of this technique, created as the glazes melted and mingled during kiln firing.
The figure represents a traditional Chinese court lady. While her garments are fully decorated in vibrant glazes, her head and face remain unglazed, preserving the fine, subtle details of her facial features and structured hairstyle. Nowadays, the high-quality reproductions are popular collectibles.
