A stunning pair of cobalt blue Murano glass vases, skillfully crafted to resemble fabric bags. The distinctive feature of this set is their complementary design, with one vase standing upright and the other lying on its side. Both vases feature an elegant scalloped mouth, finished with a heat-applied glass cord that mimics the ribbon used to tie a bag. The exterior surface is not smooth, but entirely hammered: this special process allows the light to be captured and refracted in a unique way, giving the glass a vibrant aquatic texture. The pair dates back to around 1970 and, although unsigned, we attribute them to the artistic glassworks of Gino Cenedese. The absence of a mark is most likely due to the hammered surface, which makes engraving the signature with a diamond tip technically complex. The quality of the raw material is absolutely exquisite: the two vases are distinguished by their considerable weight—almost two kilograms of glass for two small-medium sized vases—and by the exceptional translucency and brilliance of the glass. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
