The top features an original … Read more Antique French Napoleon III desk made of fine exotic wood with finely chased gilt-bronze accents. The top features an original period-era chased leather covering bordered by a gilt-bronze trim. The front features three drawers embellished with gilded bronze vents and handles featuring a leaf motif. The four corners are adorned with large half-length female figures typical of the period. The sides are framed, like the front, with gilded bronze profiles featuring a leaf motif and a mask in the center. The opposite side is a mirror image of the front. The interior is made of oak. Condition: Restored by our master craftsmen using traditional methods with handmade shellac and alcohol. Provenance: 19th-century France. Dimensions: 180 x 90 x 80 cm (H).
