Italian mid century modern enamelled metal primary school sign, 1960s
convex oval sign made of enamelled sheet metal with a white background and black border. The upper section features the words “scuola elementare” in black uppercase letters arranged in an arch, while the centre displays the emblem of the italian republic with its red-bordered star, cogwheel, olive and oak branches, and ribbon bearing the inscription “repubblica italiana”. The surface has a glossy enamel finish and four mounting holes distributed around the perimeter for wall installation. The sign is made from a single pressed metal sheet with a slightly raised convex profile, a characteristic feature of public signage from the period.
