A splendid Art Deco liquor set, made of blown crystal by the prestigious French firm Daum. The set consists of a pitcher and six exquisite glasses, all handcrafted. Daum pieces reflect the perfect blend of functionality and artistry in crystal.
This is a glass set crafted using the traditional blown glass technique, with an amber finish and purple details on both the bases of the glasses and the handle of the pitcher, creating a vibrant contrast that further enhances the overall effect. The glass's finish allows for subtle light seepage and plays with the light, creating delicate color gradations. The set is in the Art Deco style, which the company embraced after World War I, characterized by straight lines and bolder colors, as seen in this collection. The piece's originality is further demonstrated by the signature engraved on the lower part of the pitcher, which reads "Daum, Nancy."
The base of the pitcher bears a small stamp that reads "L'Acropole 8 Rue Caulaincourt Paris," indicating the address of a prominent early 20th-century jewelry store and art gallery where this set was found and sold.
About Daum, the French Glassware House
Daum is a historic French art glass company founded in 1878 in Nancy by Jean Daum. It became a key name in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements thanks to the talent of his successors, especially Antonin Daum, who collaborated with artists such as Gallé. Daum is renowned for its mastery of the pâte de verre (glass paste) technique, which allows for the creation of unique pieces with an unmistakable texture and color. Today, it remains synonymous with excellence in art glass and contemporary design.
