Crafted in richly finished walnut, the table features a beautifully inlaid top, shaped apron, and refined carved detailing characteristic of Karges’ fine American furniture. Its generous proportions and versatile expandable design make it equally well suited to everyday dining or large holiday gatherings and entertaining.
The table measures 73” L × 42” W × 29” H without its leaves and has three 20” extension leaves, allowing it to expand to an impressive 133” in length.
It can be used in several configurations:
Without leaves: 73” L
With one leaf: 93” L
With two leaves: 113” L
With all three leaves: 133” L
Width: 42”
Height: 29”
Two of the extension leaves are in very good vintage condition. The third original 18” leaf has paint splatter from painting work performed in the home. The condition of this leaf is disclosed separately and does not affect the other two leaves or the table itself. The third leaf is included with the table and provides the option of extending the table to its full 133” length.
This table was my mother’s prized dining-room piece and was exceptionally well cared for. It was used primarily for holidays and special occasions, and the tabletop was protected with a table pad and tablecloth when in use.
A beautiful and substantial example of vintage Karges furniture, combining traditional French styling with the quality construction and fine detailing for which the maker is known.
