A beautifully rendered original limited edition lithograph by celebrated British landscape artist George Guest, titled "Badbury Hill Fort."
This impression is hand signed in pencil by the artist, numbered 52/200, and retains its original Christie's Contemporary Art Certificate of Authentication affixed to the reverse, together with the original descriptive sheet discussing the artist and the historic Oxfordshire landscape depicted.
Guest became internationally admired for his remarkably precise observations of the English countryside. His compositions combine extraordinary draftsmanship with subtle color, producing prints of exceptional depth and atmosphere. Published through Christie's Contemporary Art, this edition represents one of the artist's finest landscape subjects.
The composition depicts the ancient hill fort at Badbury Hill in Oxfordshire, framed by monumental trees whose intricate branches dominate the foreground while opening onto expansive rural views beyond. Delicate hand coloring enhances the lithographic image without overwhelming the meticulous line work for which Guest became known.
This original limited edition lithograph is hand signed in pencil by George Guest and numbered 52/200 from a limited edition of 200 impressions. It bears the artist's embossed blindstamp in the lower right margin and retains its original Christie's Contemporary Art Certificate of Authentication, together with the original Christie's descriptive information sheet, both affixed to the reverse of the frame. The work remains professionally matted and framed and dates to circa 1983–1985, when Christie's Contemporary Art published a number of the artist's highly regarded landscape editions.
A refined example of late twentieth-century British landscape printmaking, equally suited for traditional, English Country House, or contemporary interiors.
